Welcome to my website.
I would like to say that it’s a model-building website, but as of writing this, it isn’t much of anything yet. This is the first blog post on it, so in a way, that is exciting. But all of the planned features are just that—planned and awaiting implementation.
The current short-term plan is a homepage, an image gallery, and a blog. The image gallery will be picture-focused and contain images of my various model builds—a replacement for, or at least parallel to, my Instagram page that’s fully under my control. The blog will feature scattered updates about my model building and other things I find interesting. So, a traditional blog in every sense. I’m not really much of an entertainer so I’ll likely lean into a more documentation focused writing style.
If things get moving, I plan on adding a third section, “Projects,” which would contain all the relevant blog posts and the image gallery for each project I’m working on, as well as a quick recap. One place where you can find all the information about a project without having to search for it.
The mid-term plan is a shop page. If nothing else, it will link to my Cults page. I am working on some physical items as well, but this is strictly a hobby, so I’m not too focused on that right now. I will hopefully go into more detail about what I want to sell and how I make it on this very blog.
There is no long-term plan just yet. Odds are, this thing fizzles out and I stop paying the hosting fees by then. I’m okay with this staying a fun experiment, as I’ve always wanted to dabble in web design—if you can call cobbling together a WordPress theme “web design.” Apparently, it’s how a large percentage of modern websites are made. I’m not particularly impressed with WordPress. It has a steep learning curve, yet is still frustratingly inflexible at times. But I’ll reserve judgment for now, as I’ve more or less just gotten started. Best-case scenario, I start actively maintaining this website—and who knows what might come from that.
About me
I’m Apok from Slovenia and I’ve been model building for over 15 years now. I build a variety of subjects, though my main focus at the moment is automotive models. Keep an eye on the gallery, as I’ll likely populate it soon.
If I had to describe my modelling style, I’d say it’s simple. I rarely build complex projects and often stick to out-of-the-box builds. I don’t like buying aftermarket pieces and prefer crafting things myself. A big help is CAD modelling and 3D printing, so expect me to write about that as well.
I’ve also been painting figures for a bit over two years now. I find it a nice counterpart to model building.
